Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented Manual Tester with strong experience using Jira for test management and defect tracking. The ideal candidate will have prior State or Federal Government project experience, with a solid understanding of government processes, documentation standards, and compliance requirements. The Manual Tester will be responsible for creating and executing comprehensive test plans and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, compliant solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute detailed manual test cases, test scenarios, and test plans based on system requirements and government specifications.
  • Log, track, and manage defects using Jira, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with development teams.
  • Conduct functional, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Work closely with business analysts, developers, and government stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure thorough testing coverage.
  • Perform end-to-end testing of government systems, applications, and workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with state or federal guidelines, security, and accessibility standards (such as Section 508 if applicable).
  • Prepare detailed test documentation and reports for audit and government project review.
  • Support government user acceptance testing efforts and assist in issue resolution during deployment.
  • Participate in Agile or Waterfall project methodologies, based on the government's framework.

Required Skills

  • Strong manual testing experience in web-based and enterprise applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira for test management, defect tracking, and sprint management.
  • Proven experience working on State or Federal Government projects.
  • Understanding of government reporting, documentation, and compliance processes.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining test cases, test scripts, and traceability matrices.
  • Familiarity with SQL for basic database validations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, public health, or social service programs.
  • Knowledge of Section 508 Accessibility standards and government security protocols.
  • Familiarity with test case management tools (e.g., Zephyr, TestRail) integrated with Jira.
  • Exposure to Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of automation concepts (even if the role is manual-focused).
