Founding Software Engineer

Looking for a mission-driven role where you can directly shape the product and make your city better? Based in Toronto, Transify is a Transit Data Visualization Platform that is working to improve transit and cities by making their data actionable.

Transify’s growing fast, working with over 30 transit agencies in Canada and the US. In the Toronto area, Brampton, Barrie, Burlington, and Milton all rely on Transify to power their planning and daily operations. For instance, schedulers use Transify to improve the accuracy of their schedules, boosting reliability. While planners use Transify to optimize both frequency and routing, with Barrie having designed an entirely new network.

We’re taking Transify to the next level, scaling to more agencies, integrating with more data sources, developing new actionable data visualizations, and leveraging AI to deliver proactive recommendations to help improve transit even more.

You’ll be key to making that happen, being empowered to ship features from end to end, from breaking down roadmap items, to designing and shipping features, to gathering feedback directly from customers.

Here’s what we’re looking for in this role

• Undergraduate studies in Computer Science or adjacent field
• Minimum two years of professional software development experience (including internships)
• Interested in data visualization, data engineering, fullstack development
• Can hit the ground running in React and Polars/Pandas
• Passionate about improving transit and in maximizing your impact
• Effectively leverage AI (such as Claude Code) to deliver new features in days rather than weeks, with high quality code that leaves the codebase in a better place than it was before

Working Location: We’re based in the Queen West area of Downtown Toronto, near Osgoode Station. We’d estimate around 1-2 days a week in the office, with flexibility based on what works best for you. Working hours are flexible.

Compensation: We aim to provide compensation competitive with top Toronto-based roles. Pay ranges from $130,000 to $190,000 depending on experience and interview performance.
