Exciting Opportunity: Software Engineer – Hands-On Java Developer - 12 month contract engagement with renewal potential

We’re looking for a high-performing Software Engineer to join a global team supporting fast-paced financial markets. In this role, you’ll be developing high-performance applications in Java, building microservices, enhancing CI/CD pipelines, and directly supporting trading desks across the globe.

You’ll be part of a team that thrives on ownership, analytical problem-solving, and end-to-end delivery — from design to production support.

This is a hands-on coding role. If you're not currently writing code daily, this isn’t the right fit.

Responsibilities

Developing Java-based features connected to PostgreSQL databases

Building and enhancing CI/CD pipelines

Providing L2/L3 production support (on rotation)

Working closely with trading desks and global stakeholders

Collaborating with architects, analysts, and end users to ensure functional, user-focused delivery

Ensuring compliance with internal controls and external regulatory standards

Owning your work through the full software development lifecycle

Qualifications

Must-Have

5+ years of Java development with a focus on high-performance systems

Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases

Proven ability to design and develop in microservices architecture

Familiarity with tools like JIRA and Confluence

Strong communication skills and the ability to occasionally step into business analysis tasks

Calm under pressure, with an analytical approach to problem-solving

Full ownership mentality — from specs to post-release support

A collaborative mindset and proven success in high-performance teams

Nice-to-Have

Experience in Fixed Income, Bonds, Futures, pricing, or risk management

Exposure to DevOps tools (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins)

Knowledge of C++ or Python
