Senior Software Engineer – Java | Financial Technology

Location: New York City

Compensation: Up to $300,000 base + performance bonus + benefits

I’m working with a leading global financial technology organization looking to hire Senior Software Engineers for a high-impact product engineering team in New York.

This team builds proprietary, business-critical platforms used by senior stakeholders across the organization. Rather than maintaining off-the-shelf enterprise software, engineers design and build custom applications covering workflow automation, analytics, decision-support systems and increasingly AI-powered functionality.

What you’ll be doing

• Design and build scalable applications primarily using Java
• Own features and systems from requirements and architecture through production
• Build workflow automation and data-intensive applications
• Work directly with business stakeholders to understand complex problems and turn them into effective technical solutions
• Develop new functionality across backend and, where appropriate, frontend systems
• Contribute to AI-enabled features and internal decision-support platforms
• Work on highly reliable systems within a demanding financial environment

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong Java and backend engineering skills
• Experience designing scalable, distributed or event-driven systems
• Product-minded approach rather than purely infrastructure-focused engineering
• Experience building business-facing applications or workflow platforms
• Comfortable working directly with stakeholders and end users
• Strong system design and problem-solving skills
• Full-stack experience is advantageous but not essential

This is an engineering-led environment offering significant ownership, challenging technical problems and the opportunity to build platforms used directly by key decision-makers within a major financial organization. The wider engineering environment emphasizes distributed systems, event-driven architecture, automation and end-to-end ownership.

$200,000–$300,000 base + performance bonus + benefits, depending on experience.
