The Quantitative Development team at Polar is seeking an exceptional Senior Software Developer to build a state-of-the-art multi-asset investment platform. You’ll design, develop, and maintain critical investment infrastructure and core components for Portfolio Managers, Risk Managers, and the Office of the CIO. You will partner closely with world-class quants and developers to deliver real-time trade analytics and portfolio management systems that the investment team can trust. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high‑performance systems in C#/.NET for real-time pricing, analytics, and portfolio/risk workflows.
- Own projects end‑to‑end and partner with PMs, Quant Research, Data, and Risk to clarify requirements, produce technical designs, and deliver production software.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices and contribute to platform standards (APIs, messaging, data models, testing, deployment, code quality).
- Mentor and unblock teammates; contribute to design reviews and code reviews.
- Improve platform reliability through proactive issue detection, observability, performance tuning, and robust failure handling.
- Participate in a support/on-call rotation, ensuring platform stability and timely responses to user requests.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software development experience in C# and the .NET ecosystem.
- Strong experience in architecting and developing distributed, real-time systems using messaging technologies.
- Strong knowledge of T-SQL and practical experience with data modelling.
- Capital market experience in Rates, Credit, Equity, or Commodities.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality, reliable software in fast-paced environments.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience building responsive front ends in React or Angular
- Python experience, including integrating .NET APIs with Python.
- Experience developing Excel-based tooling for financial analytics.
- Exposure to observability/monitoring solutions (e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry).
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems (e.g. TeamCity, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
- Hands-on experience with containerization and task orchestration technologies (e.g. Nomad and Kubernetes).

Work Setup: 4 days/week in office
Compensation: Polar’s total compensation package includes base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. In accordance with Ontario’s Employment Standards Act, 2000, the estimated base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000. The actual base salary pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, the individual’s experience level, the qualifications they bring to the role, business needs, and market demands.
