About The Opportunity

Our client, an established technology organization developing connected IoT products, has an immediate requirement for a Senior BLE Firmware Developer to join its Ottawa engineering team, 100% onsite.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a brand-new connected-device development initiative, working hands-on with Nordic Semiconductor technology, Bluetooth Low Energy and Zephyr RTOS.

The successful consultant will be a strong hands-on embedded developer capable of owning production-quality firmware from design and development through hardware integration, debugging and testing.

Duties include but are not limited to

  • Developing Embedded firmware that will run on Embedded IoT products
  • Design, develop and maintain production embedded firmware using C/C++
  • Develop firmware for Nordic nRF52/nRF54 devices using nRF Connect SDK and Zephyr RTO
  • Develop and optimize BLE functionality including GAP, GATT, advertising, connections, pairing/bonding, security and custom services
  • Develop firmware for low-power, resource-constrained connected devices
  • Perform board bring-up and hardware/firmware integration using SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO, ADC and timers
  • Implement low power algorithms

About You

The successful candidate will have the following

  • Degree from a recognized university or community college with an acceptable specialization in computer, electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer science or information systems
  • 8+ years of embedded firmware/software development experience
  • Advanced Embedded C skills within resource-constrained systems and Zephyr RTOS development experience
  • Strong commercial experience within the Nordic Semiconductor ecosystem, ideally nRF52 and/or nRF54. Hands on experience with nRF Connect SDK
  • Strong Bluetooth Low Energy development experience and understanding of GAP/GATT
  • Experience developing and optimizing low-power/battery-powered devices
  • Strong embedded hardware integration/debugging skills, ARM Cortex microcontrollers, drivers and bootloaders
  • Comfortable remaining highly hands-on while contributing to technical design and architecture
  • Assets: BLE security/DFU, secure boot, RF/interoperability testing, automated testing/CI, Python, Thread/Matter/802.15.4 and previous IoT/sensor development
  • Strong team player, collaborative, self sufficient, able to work
  • Must be able to work onsite
