Superintendent Healthcare (Northern California)

DEB Construction, named a Great Place to Work® is seeking a dynamic OSHPD-HCAI Superintendent with previous OSHPD experience for our Northern California team. Superintendents will work closely with all members of the project team and supervise all craft employees.

Job Summary

Provide effective, organized, and consistent supervision and management of construction work for all trades and vendors to support the requirements of the contract and DEB Construction policies while delivering the project with DEB Construction’s standard quality, safety, and schedule commitments. Communication, team building, problem-solving, and leadership are key characteristics. Willing to work nights and weekends if required. May require travel up to 50% of the time.

Required Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years verifiable HCAI experience and five (5) years of Commercial Superintendent experience.
• Minimum of three (3) verifiable client references.
• Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to create and maintain a 3 week look ahead using Microsoft Project.
• Dynamic leader with exceptional organization and communication skills (oral and written).
• Willingness and ability to self-perform limited work (framing, drywall, etc.) when necessary.
• High School Diploma required, College degree preferred.

Key Responsibilities

(Field Leadership and Construction Oversight) Coordinate and Manage Construction with Sub-Contractors

• Supervise all subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and quality production.
• Have a clear and complete understanding of the drawings, specifications, HACI requirements and DEB’s scope of work.
• Verify all work is complete, and compliant prior to scheduling inspections.
• Coordinate and maintain sequence of trade activities to ensure productive progression according to project schedule.
• Assure DEB Construction and client quality standards are met across all trades.

(Schedule Management) Manage Schedule for conformity to clients’ needs

• Create, update, and publish weekly 3-Week Look Ahead schedules.
• Monitor daily production and verify work is tracking toward scheduled completion dates.
• Communicate schedule status and impacts to subcontractors, Project Manager, and clients when appropriate.
• Identify constraints early and provide solution oriented approaches to maintain or recover schedule.
• Be observant of all jobsite progress to ensure alignment with critical milestones.

Manage safety program on-site per DEB Construction and state/client safety requirements

• Implement and enforce DEB Construction’s Safety Program and all applicable safety requirements.
• Conduct weekly safety meetings, perform daily safety observation and maintenance, and generate and submit a daily safety check list.
• Support infection control and interim life safety measures when required.

Maintain Timely and Accurate Job-Site Documentation

• Maintain daily reports, conversation logs, RFI’s, submittals, safety meeting minutes, and schedules.
• Create and submit accurate Daily Reports, including progress photos, manpower, activities, delays, and inspections at the end of every shift.
• Maintain timely, organized, and complete records that support accountability, compliance, and audit requirements.

Supervise and Manage Project Completion, Job Close-Out to Meet Schedule and Quality Requirements

• Manage completion of punch lists in a timely, organized and quality manner.
• Coordinate final inspections, commissioning and occupancy readiness.

• Candidates must have a valid California Driver License and a clean driving record. All final candidates will be subject to a Fitness for Duty Test, Drug Screen, Motor Vehicle Report, and a Criminal Background Check prior to hiring.

Physical Requirements

• Requires work indoors and outdoors in office and or job/construction sites.
• Requires visiting job/construction sites in personal vehicle.
• Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Such as boots, hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, ear protection, etc.
• Can be exposed to construction related hazards, loud environments, heavy equipment, and changing weather conditions.
• Must physically inspect job/construction sites such as climbing ladders and scaffolding. Often job/construction sites have non-ADA compliant or accessible surfaces, elevations, rooftops, or floors and can require physically demanding situations.

Must be able to perform physical work, bending, using hand and power tools, carrying, lifting up to 50 lbs.
