In this role, you will

• Develop high‑quality software solutions using SQL Server, SQL, and Azure to meet business requirements and improve operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable applications.
• Optimize database performance while ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance across platforms.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of growth and continuous improvement.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues with minimal disruption to business operations.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle—from requirements gathering to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and enhance existing systems.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including software designs, specifications, and user guides.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Ensure all software solutions align with company objectives and support long‑term strategic goals.
• Test and validate applications to ensure they meet quality standards and user expectations.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies.

What you need to have to be considered

• Proven proficiency in SQL Server, SQL, and Azure, with a track record of successful project delivery.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with team members and stakeholders.
• A commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience working within agile development methodologies.
• Familiarity with cloud computing and data management best practices.

This will help you stand out

• Experience mentoring junior developers or contributing to team capability building.
• Demonstrated ability to optimize large‑scale databases and improve system performance.
• Hands‑on experience with modern Azure services and cloud‑native development patterns.
• Strong documentation skills and an ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $57,600 to $91,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
