Experienced Software Engineer-Developer

Position Overview

The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Software Engineer-Developer to support its P-8A Acoustic Programs located in Huntington Beach, CA. This role supports the Boeing Defense Services (BDS) business organization. The P-8A Acoustic Programs team delivers a wide variety of Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) products to the US Navy and international partners. The selected candidate will develop and update software components for aircraft-based underwater sensor monitoring, training systems, and Integrated Research & Development (IR&D) projects. This position is 100% onsite.

Key Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, tests, and maintains non-embedded software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards.
• Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into the initial design of software products.
• Develops, maintains, enhances, and optimizes software products and functionalities for systems integrations.
• Develops, documents, and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software products.
• Debugs and resolves issues to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.
• Handles user inquiries, troubleshoots technical issues, and analyzes user feedback.
• Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulatory changes relevant to software development.
• Executes and documents software research and development projects.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (final post-start).
• 5+ years of experience in C++, Java/JS, and Python.
• 5+ years of experience in Linux-based operating systems (Ubuntu, RedHat).
• 5+ years of experience in software configuration management tools (preferably Atlassian products such as Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket).
• 5+ years of experience with Docker/ContainerD and Kubernetes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
• Knowledge of specification formats, guidelines, and change control processes, including their relationship to aircraft/product certification systems.
• Understanding of host environments (processors, operating systems, networks) and the ability to build, integrate, and troubleshoot software components.
• Familiarity with multiple programming languages and databases, and the ability to apply them in the software domain.
• Experience with deriving and allocating requirements (system, sub-system, software) and ensuring traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
• Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies for meeting requirements, constraints, and characteristics.
• Experience in software development processes in compliance with established internal and industry standards, including testing and deployment best practices.
• Familiarity with software development and testing tools such as compilers, debuggers, data analysis tools, graphical user interface builders, and requirements management tools.
• Understanding of various domains that influence software architecture, design, and integration/test approaches.
• Knowledge of implementation, validation, and verification practices to ensure quality, performance, and safety.
